Capstone Requirements
The Capstone Project allows students to pursue an independent research project, under close supervision of a faculty advisor. For many students, the project results in a written academic thesis; for others, it may undertake performances and exhibitions, or business plans. Students submitting creative projects will submit an essay discussing their aesthetic choices and how they situate the project within their artistic traditions. In all Capstone Projects, students work closely with their faculty advisors throughout the entire process.
While these projects help pave the way for additional graduate or professional work, they also provide intrinsic benefits, notably the intellectual and creative satisfaction of independent research. A Capstone Project is usually 60-70 pages, although some may be as long as 100 pages.
